Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Wednesday ordered immediate suspension of the ‘non-reporting and absentee’ examiners appointed for evaluation of Plus Two answer sheets.

The Directorate of Higher Education has written a letter addressing all presidents of the governing bodies and special officers of all non-government aided colleges regarding this.

“It has come to the notice of the government that some teachers appointed as examiners for Plus Two evaluation, 2018, have willfully absented themselves from evaluation centres. You are requested to initiate disciplinary action against such teachers failing which the governing bodies of such colleges will be punished as per law,” said the letter of the Directorate of Higher Education.

The School and Mass Education Department also said that a lecturer, senior lecturer and reader assigned evaluation shall not refuse as per Section 8 of the Orissa Conduct of Examination Act 1988.

On the other hand, the teachers continued their agitation despite government’s order. They are demanding issuance of a notification regarding withdrawal of the affidavit clause prescribed in the Grant-in-Aid (GIA) Policy-2017 along with fulfillment of six other demands since March 19.

The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) had asked as many as 5,800 teachers to join the ongoing evaluation process. However, half of the teachers coming under Block Grant, 488 category and 662 category teachers, boycotted the evaluation of the answer papers.
