Puri: In a tragic incident, body of a patient was found hanging inside the toilet of the District Headquarters Hospital here on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Babula Sabar of Nuapara district.
Sabar, who was working as mason, had come to the Pilgrim City along with a group of his fellow villagers to work. They were living in the Matipada area of the city.
The Nuapara man was reportedly admitted at the Medicine Ward of the hospital after he complained of chest pain this morning. However, he went to the toilet on the pretext of attending nature’s call. When he did not return after more than one hour, his attendants went to the toilet and noticed his body hanging. Immediately, they brought the matter to the notice of hospital authorities’ who informed the police.
Though the exact cause of his death is yet to be identified, police suspects it to be a case of suicide. An investigation into the matter has been initiated by the cops.
Family members of the deceased mason have been informed about his death and his body will be handed over to them after completion of postmortem, said sources at the police.
