‘Paree Pain Katha Tiye’ concludes

Bhubaneswar: The statewide awareness campaign – ‘Paree Pain Katha Tiye’ (A word for little angel) – against child sexual abuse concluded here on Tuesday.

The statewide campaign which was initiated by Odisha Police in association with the UNICEF concluded after covering the 1 crore people in 30 districts of the state. As many as 15 Paree Express covered over 40,000 km in 15 days.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was supposed to attend the valedictory function as chief guest, but due to some official preoccupation he could not turn up to the spot. However, through his video conferencing message from the State Secretariat, Patnaik said, “Joining this awareness campaign and protecting our little girl children from sexual abuse is our prime duty and that leads to their safety and security.”

Addressing on the occasion, DGP R.P. Sharma said, “We had started the 15-day-long joint venture of Odisha Police and UNICEF as cases of child sexual abuse have been reported for the last few days across the country including our State of Odisha. It is very unfortunate and a serious matter of concern for all of us. In a bid to curb such a shameful and heinous crime, people from all sections of the society should join hands. Let’s all join hands in this noble mission and curb the crime together.”
