Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Thursday put a stay on the elections for the Notified Area Council (NAC) at Nuapada, which was scheduled to be held on April 3, 2018 along with Hindol and Attabira NACs.
The court passed the interim order on a writ petition filed by Mahesh Kumar Nial over ward reservation of the NAC.
Advocate Taranikanta Biswal said, Nial had challenged the Nuapada Collector’s notification on ward delimitation and seat reservation for the upcoming polls at 14 wards of the local urban body.
The next hearing of the case will be held on March 12.
The court also sent notices to the State Election Commission in this regard.
