OPCC pays homage former PM Rajiv Gandhi on his 27th Death Anniversary

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Monday paid homage to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 27th death anniversary.

OPCC President Niranjan Pattnaik and other senior Congress leaders from the state paid floral tributes to the youngest Prime Minister of the country at a special function held here today.

The Congress leaders also distributed fruits to the patients at the Capital Hospital in the city on this occasion.

Rajiv Gandhi, a recipient of Bharat Ratna, was assassinated in a suicide bombing at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu on May 21, 1991.

The day is also observed as Anti-terrorism Day across the nation. The objective is to wean away the youth from terrorism and the cult of violence by highlighting the sufferings of common people and showing how it is prejudicial to the national interest.
