Bargarh: With no end in sight to farmer suicide in the state, one more person killed himself in Kharsal village under Bhatli police limits over crop loss and loan burden here on Saturday.
The deceased farmer has been identified as Rohit Bhoi (40), son of Kunjabihari Bhoi of Kharsal village.
Rohit consumed pesticides at around 4 AM this morning and was rushed to Bargarh District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) in critical condition and died there under treatment.
“Rohit, elder among my four sons and one daughter was taking care of farming in the home. He had cropped 6 Acres of paddy this Kharif season after taking loans from various sources. However he started remaining under extreme mental stress after suffering a complete damage of crops due to brown plant hoppers (BPH) attack subsequently and took the extreme step early today morning”, said Kunjabihari.
Bhatli Tehsildar Biswanath Sahu and Additional Tehsildar Anil Hota reached the DHH with police team and started investigation into the incident later in the day.
