Bhubaneswar: Proving the pleasure of animal lovers in the state to be short-lived, one of the tiger cubs born to tigress Ankita at Nandankanan Zoological Park a day ago, died on Saturday night.
As per the zoo authorities, the cub’s body spotted inside the enclosure during the day on Saturday was found abandoned by the tigress. It was removed from the enclosure by afternoon.
While the exact reason of the new-born tiger cub’s death is yet to be known, it could only be ascertained after a complete medical examination, maintained the authorities.
Meanwhile, the zoo authorities have put the other cub on spoon-feeding.
Both the cubs were born to Tiger Saif and Tigress Ankita on Friday night taking the total number of tigers currently living in the zoo to 26.
