Angul: An elderly person of Rajanipal village under Angul police station limits in the district was allegedly killed by his cousin and relatives over a land dispute on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Uchhaba Behera, while the accused have been identified as Pandi Behera and his two sons.
Sources said, the family members of Uchhaba and Pandi were involved in a land dispute for a long period. Yesterday, Uchhaba was reportedly tied with a pole and beaten mercilessly at Kukudanga village by the accused.
The accused fled from the spot, when Uchhaba lost consciousness, sources added.
After getting information about the attack, Uchhaba’s son and other family members reached the spot and rescued him in a critical condition. He was rushed to the District Head Quarters Hospital, but the doctors declared him brought dead.
Police rushed to the scene and sent the body for post-mortem. They also arrested all three accused in this connection. A case has also been registered against them in connection to the murder case, police said.
