Bhubaneswar: The world famous Konark Sun Temple of Odisha will be featured in the new Rs 10 denomination notes which the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is slated to issue soon.

The RBI is said to have printed around 1 billion pieces of the new Rs 10 notes in chocolate brown colour. The design received consent from the government last week.

If the preliminary reports are to be believed, then it is a matter of great pride for Odisha as the Sun Temple, also known as the Black Pagoda, is one of the major tourist destinations in the state. It is also a symbol of India’s heritage.

Notably, the central bank of the country had last changed the design of the old Rs 10 note in 2005. The RBI has already introduced new Rs 200 and Rs 50 notes under the Mahatma Gandhi series in August, 2017.
