Odisha’s Aparajita Gochhikar bags bronze in Asian Amateur Chess Chiang Mai: Odisha’s Aparajita Gochhikar has brought laurels to the country by winning bronze in the ongoing Asian Amateur Chess Championship-2017 at Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Gochhikar was nominated by the All India Chess Federation to represent India as official player in the Championship which began on November 23 and slated to conclude on December 1.

Gochhikar, a former student of KIIT University and present employee of the University, gave her wining credit to Dr. Achyuta Samanta, founder of KIIT & KISS.

On the other hand, Dr. Samanta and staff of the University congratulated her for her success in the tournament.

Last year, she had represented India in the World Amateur Chess Championship-2016 held at Halkidiki, Greece, as the only player from Odisha and had won the silver medal.
