Third genders urge for free education for Kunduli gang rape victimBhubaneswar: The All Odisha Third Gender Welfare Trust urged free education for the Kunduli gang rape victim here on Tuesday.

A delegate, led by All Odisha Third Gender Welfare Trust Chairman Meera Parida, met the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) today and submitted a memorandum seeking educational support for the gang rape survivor and her family’s protection.

The transgender body claimed that our society never helps the victim to forget the incident with passing on continuous negative comments. However, the victim should be supported as she is still a minor who has already faced the harsh realities in her life.

Speaking to reporters, Meera Parida, who had earlier met the victim on her Koraput visit, said, “The victim was emotionally, mentally and physically traumatized. The entire family is going through  a very difficult moment after the incident.”

“We can never make up for the losses she has undergone, but to keep humanity alive, we can help her to some extend and help her reach things that are possible. Therefore, we demand for her free education and make necessary grounds to secure her family’s protection,” added Meera Parida.
