Bhubaneswar: In a major development, the Odisha Government will soon sign MoU with US based company-“ Earth Networks” for prior weather warning like lightning, thunderstorm alerts etc., informed the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi here on Wednesday.
Sethi also said that the State Government has planned to develop a mobile App for weather warning across the state. People will get prior information about lightning, thunderstorm and other weather reports through their smart phones, he claimed.
Quoting official report on lightning deaths, Sethi said 61 people have died from April 1 to May 22 while 459 cases were reported during 2017-18.
Earth Networks is currently working with over 1,800 sensors in nearly 50 countries around the world.
