Odisha +2 Exam: Students express annoyance over timetable Berhampur: Two days after the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) declared the time table for the Plus Two annual examination which is slated to begin from March 6, 2018, students and staff on Saturday expressed their annoyance over the timetable especially for Botany and Zoology subjects.

They alleged that earlier Botany and Zoology exams were conducted separately on different days. The examinees were allotted two hours each for both the subjects. However, the CHSE has decided to allot only three hours for both the subjects by merging them as one paper – Biology – and conduct them on the same day.

“It is tough for us to answer four long questions in three hours in Biology, which is a hard subject. Since Botany and Zoology help us to prepare for the Medical Entrance, the state government should change the exam pattern and give us justice,” said a Plus Two student of Anchalika Science College in Khetriyabarapur of Ganjam district.

“Students were given two hours each for Zoology and Botany which was helping them to answer two questions from each subject. However, now the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has decided to allot only three hours to attend four questions for the two subjects on the same day. We want the exam to be conducted as per the old pattern,” demanded another student of the college.

Speaking about the new pattern of the Science exam, B Govind Rao, Lecturer of Botany department of the college said, “It is not fair to allot only 1.30 hrs each for hard subjects like Zoology and Botany. Thee students have lot of topics to cover. From my teaching experience, I feel that even the good students will not be able to cover all the questions within the stipulated time, which is not just for the students.”

As per the timetable announced by the CHSE on Thursday, the Biology exam (Botany & Zoology) will be conducted on March 23, 2018. While the Botany (Section-A) will be held from 10 AM to 11.30 AM while the Zoology (Section-B) Zoology will be held between 11.30 AM and 1 PM.

Meanwhile, hundreds of +2 students staged demonstration in front of the CHSE office in Bhubaneswar this morning, protesting the examination schedule.
