Odisha: Orientation Programme for Newly-Recruited Civil Servants begins

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Orientation Programme for the newly-recruited 145 State Civil Servants on Saturday.

Patnaik inaugurated the Orientation Programme in the presence of Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera, Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Maheswar Mohanty, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi and other dignitaries.

The General Administration & Public Grievance Department of the state government had organized the programme at Jaydev Bhavan.

The 145 successful candidates include 47 women, 3 PwDs and 1 Sports person.

While 100 officers have been appointed by the Revenue & Disaster Management Department in OAS cadre, 31 OFS and 14 OPS officers have been posted by the Finance Department and the Home Department respectively.

“On joining of the officers, they will be put to institutional and field training as per curriculum of the respective Departments shortly. The institutional training will be imparted Gopabandhu Academy of Administration for OAS, Madhusudan Das Regional Academy of Financial Management for the OFS and Biju Patnaik State Police Academy for OPS officers,” said a press note.

The press note also stated that the recruitment of officers under Odisha Civil Services is being regularly conducted from 2015 onwards, annually, on time, through the OPSC (Odisha Public Service Commission).

The Odisha Civil Services Examinations-2016 with respect to the advertisement of OPSC on 06.06.2016 was conducted to recruit 145 officers, i.e. 100 in OAS, 31 in OFS, 14 in OPS cadre.

The interview for the selected candidates was held between February 12 and 28, 2018 while the result was declared on March 9.

Later, a Special Medical Board verified the physical standards of the candidates on April 25.
