Odisha moving towards a ‘constitutional failure’ says Pradhan

Bhubaneswar: Tearing into Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik over Ainthapali custodial death issue and the ensuing violence in Sambalpur, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today claimed that Odisha is moving towards a ‘constitutional failure’.

While talking to reporters after the inaugural event of the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express in New Delhi, Pradhan said the state government is trying to tag the custodial death in Ainthapali Police station as ‘unnatural death’. He said such kind of situation happens only when the government cares more to safeguard the political ambitions of the ruling party than to protect citizens.

“The State Government is trying to shift attention from the failure of police machinery across the state from Kunduli to Ainthapali where law enforcers have became law breakers,” Pradhan opined.

The Union Minister questioned the nature of the crime for which the poor youth of Bhalupali village had to give his valuable life at the police station. Making a mockery of the ex-gratia announcement by Naveen, Pradhan said it could not bring back the deceased.

“The Odisha Government has turned to be anti-tribal, anti-women and anti-youth. The way people reacted to the Ainthapali incident is a big warning for the state government. In the coming days people would revolt against the ruling BJD Government,” Pradhan claimed.
