Odisha govt to spend Rs 50 cr to preserve ‘Paika Bidroha’ memoryBhubaneswar: Odisha government on Monday set an estimate budget of Rs 50 crore which will be spent in preserving the glorious memory of ‘Paika Bidroha’ on the occasion of the 200th year of the rebellion.

A preparatory meeting in this regard was held under the chairmanship of Tourism & Culture Minister Ashok Panda at the state Secretariat today.

Oil-paintings on the Paika Rebellion will be drawn at the State Museum here and wall panting will be drawn in Khurdha and Barunei. Apart from these, a Paika Park Market Complex will be inaugurated in Khurdha town.

The meeting decided to spend only Rs 8 crore from the Rs 10 crore budget which has been sanctioned by the Union government for setting up of a Paika Smruti Bhawan.

“A wall painting on the history of Paika Bidroha will be drawn at Barunei and oil painting with 50 episodes will also be there in Odisha State Museum,” said the Tourism & Culture Minister.
