Odisha govt declares early summer vacations, schools to remain closed from today

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Tuesday announced early summer vacations in view of the intense heat wave.

According to a release issued by the School and Mass Education Department, schools across the state will remain closed from April 25 onwards. Usually the summer holidays are announced in May,

School and Mass Education Minister, Badri Narayan Patra said that the government has decided that both government-run and private schools will remain shut from April 25 onwards as temperature continues to hover above 40 degrees Celsius.

However, the training programmes of teachers and various other official works like issuance of certificates will continue, he added.

The schools will reopen on June 18.
