Odisha Health Minister Pratap Jena visited the babies conjoined at chest and abdomen admitted at Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack after getting information of the conjoined babies and took stock of their health condition.

“A 12-member doctor team will be formed for the treatment of the babies and experts will be called if required. The state government will provide all sorts of help for the treatment of the kids,” said Jena after visiting the babies. He also held discussion with the doctors attending the conjoined twins and their parents.

Meanwhile, Kishore Kumar Dutta, father of the kids, who had urged the state government to provide financial assistance for the treatment, expressed his gratitude to the Minister and said that they will be named Ganga and Jamuna.

Notably, Kishore Kumar Dutta’s wife Sumitra Dutta gave birth to the conjoined twins in a private hospital in Nayagarh on Friday. Later, Kishore, a native of Pancharidamanapur village under Sarankul police limits, shifted them to the District Headquarters Hospital and kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). However, the doctors referred them to Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack as their health condition was not good.

The newborn conjoined girls are the second conjoined twins in Odisha after Kandhamal’s Jaga-Balia, who are undergoing treatment at AIIMS in New Delhi.
