Odisha girl Manisha Khuntia gets 3rd rank in IES/ISS exam

Rourkela: In a matter of great pride for Odisha, a girl from the state has secured third rank in Indian Economic Services (IES)/Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Examination-2017, the final results of which were declared by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) today.

According to reports, Manisha Khuntia (Roll No-0001911) from Rourkela has secured the third spot in the IES results while Amit Sheoran (Roll No-0000483) and Surobhi Mukherje (Roll No-0000812) have got the first and second position respectively.

The roll numbers and names of the selected candidates are available on UPSC’s official website- http://www.upsc.gov.in/

The result has been declared on the basis of the written examination held in May and interview held in September.

The number of candidates recommended for appointment to the IES is 15 and the number of candidates recommended for ISS is 29.

The appointments will be made strictly in accordance with the extant rules and the number of vacancies available.

Manisha, a resident of Sector 3 area of Rourkela, pursued higher studies in Economics at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi after completing her graduation from Indraprastha College for Women in Delhi University (DU).

She did her schooling at Carmel School & Ispat English Medium School in Rourkela. Her father Bijay Khuntia is currently working as a Deputy General Manager (DGM) in Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP).
