Odisha Crime Branch to take gangster Tito on another 4-day remand

Kendrapara: The Kendrapara SDJM Court on Monday allowed Odisha Crime Branch Special Task Force (STF) to take gangster Syed Usman Ali alias Tito on another 4-day remand.

The court’s permission came after the STF sought for another 10-day remand of the gangster whom it produced in the court after the end of his five-day remand.

According to sources at the Crime Branch, the anti-corrugation agency has got many vital information about Tito’s criminal activities and links with others during his first phase remand. However, they want to extract more information from him, added the sources.

The STF had yesterday traced his link to the neighbouring Kolkata. The investigating team had discovered some vital information on the financial transactions of the criminal. It found out that Tito has a land worth Rs 1.5 crore in his name in Kolkata and a huge amount of money was transacted to his bank account back in 2016.

The STF sleuths with the help of Kendrapara police had on Friday raided Tito’s houses and business firms at several places in the presence of an executive magistrate. Searches were also carried out at one of his associates’ house.

Several incriminating documents and details of benami transactions, six cheque books and one passbook of Tito have been uncovered during the raids. Besides, 17 tippers and one trailer and eight excavators were seized from the yard of Benazir Infrastructure Private Ltd. The filling station at Kendrapada has been sealed.

As many as 37 files and documents and three CPUs were seized from M/S Sumbul traders, owned by Tito. The CB officials also sealed the office of Sumbul traders.

Tito was arrested after he was injured in a police encounter near Chandikhole in Jajpur district on June 30.
