Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of Congress is all set for a rousing welcome of its new Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Niranjan Patnaik, who is slated to return at 5 PM today.
Niranjan will arrive at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here along with his new team. All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge of Odisha Jitendra Singh will also come on a maiden visit to the state.
On their arrival Niranjan and his team will be given a grand welcome by the enthusiastic leaders and party at the city airport.
Many Congress hoardings and flags have been placed from the airport to the Congress Bhawan.
The new OPCC President will be brought to the Congress Bhawan in a massive rally where he will be felicitated by the party leaders. He will then pay tributes to former Governor of Assam and Odisha CM Janaki Ballabh Patnaik at a meeting in Hotel Royal Suites in Bhubaneswar.
Later he will visit Puri at around 8 PM and seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath in Srimandir.
AICC President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday changed the OPCC Chief. He appointed Niranjan by replacing Prasad Harichandan.
Chiranjib Biswal, Pradeep Majhi and Naba Das were also appointed as the Working President of OPCC.
Likewise, Bhakta Charan Das and Jagannath Patnaik were appointed as Chairman of OPCC campaign committee and convener of co-ordination Committee respectively.
Jaidev Jena was posted as the Chairperson of Core Committee while Sarat Patnaik was appointed the convener of the same.
Rahul also appointed Hemananda Biswal as the Chairperson of Disciplinary Committee.
Likewise, Srikant Jena has been posted as Chairperson of the Manifesto Committee while Sarat Rout as the Convener.
