Odisha CM Offers Prayer at Puri Jagannath Temple on New Year’s Day

Puri: Like every year, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik offered prayers at the world famous Jagannath Temple here on the New Year on Monday for the well-being of all the people in the state.

Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Patasani and Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Maheswar Mohanty accompanied the Chief Minister during his prayers at the temple.

After visiting the 12th century shrine, Patnaik came out waving at people who had been waiting outside to greet him.

Aapana manaku samastanku mora nua barshara abhinandan janauchhi (Wish you all a Happy New Year), ” the Chief Minister told media persons outside the temple. “I prayed in the temple Lord Jagannath for the well-being, peace and prosperity of the people of Odisha,” he added.

Lakhs of devotees thronged to Sri Jagannath temple in the religious town today and performed darshan of the deities amid heavy security arrangements. People welcomed the New Year with great enthusiasm and festive spirit in the coastal town of the state.

Yesterday, the Chief Minister extended his New Year greetings to the people of the state and outside. “I wish all of you a very happy new year and wish eveyone’s lives are filled with happiness, peace and prosperity in the new year of 2018. Jai Jagannath,” he said in a tweet.
