Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will convene an urgent Agriculture Cabinet meeting tomorrow following the growing cases of paddy crop loss, burning of crops in the field by farmers and also rising cases of farmer suicide in the state.
Patnaik will convene the meeting at 5:30 pm in the State Secretariat. Agriculture Minister Damodar Rout, Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan and secretaries of the concerned department are slated to attend the meeting.
According to reports, the meeting will discuss various issues relating to Agriculture and farmers including crop situation and pest attack.
Meanwhile, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) today admitted that as many as 1, 78, 937 hectares of agricultural land in 20 blocks and 19 urban local bodies in 9 districts have been affected by the pest menace.
