Odisha CM to inaugurate Baripada Medical College today

Baripada Medical CollegeBaripada: Just two days after the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput district was dedicated to the people, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the Pandit Raghunath Murmu government medical college and Hospital here today.

A total of 100 students – 67 male and 33 female – have already taken admission in Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course for 2017-18, the first academic session of this institution at the headquarters of Mayurbhanj district.

The medical college will serve the people of north Odisha as well as people from neighbouring states of Jharkhand and West Bengal.

With the two new Medical Colleges in Mayurbhanj and Koraput districts , the number of government run medical colleges has gone up to five and the number of MBBS seats available to 800 in the state.

The other three government medical colleges in the state are SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur and Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla.
