Odisha CM honours spirit, determination of differently-abledBhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patanik highly honoured the spirit and determination of the differently-abled persons on the occasion of the International Day of Persons With Disabilities on Sunday.

Patanik took to his Twitter handle and said Odisha government is committed for the empowerment of the divyangs (divine body) in the state.

“On International Day of PersonsWith Disabilities #IDPD17, we honour the spirit and determination of the differently-abled and reaffirm commitment to their empowerment will rights, equality and accessibility in all spheres of life,” said the Chief Minister on his Twitter page.

He also met a group of differently-abled persons at his residents Naveen Niwas this morning.

“On this #WorldDisabilityDay, let’s come together to make the specially abled communities feel inclusive and empowered. Let us spread the message of equalizing opportunities for all,” said Dr. Achyuta Samanta, founder of KISS & KIIT, in his Twitter account.

The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. It aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

Theme of this year is – “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all.”
