Odisha Chit Fund Sam: M M Das Panel submits 5th Interim Report

Bhubaneswar: Justice MM Das Commission, probing into the multi-crore chit fund scam in Odisha, submitted its fifth interim report to the State Government on Friday.

The Commission presented its report to the Home Secretary at the State Secretariat here this morning.

The Commission, after the fifth-phase verification of 2,52,000 affidavits, has identified about 50,000 small investors (who have invested Rs 10,000 and less) and issued notice to 486 chit fund companies.

The Naveen Govt had formed the chit fund commission of inquiry on July 9, 2013.

Notably, the Commission submitted its fourth interim report to the State government on January 18, this year after verifying as many as 1,38,387 affidavits and identified 55,563 small investors.

Earlier, the commission had recommended ensuring refund of money deposited by the small investors on priority basis, while the State Government created a corpus fund of Rs 300 crore for this purpose.
