Odia passengers injured in Utkal Express mishap return

Bhubaneswar: The five Odia passengers, who were injured in the Puri- Haridwar Utkal Express derailment in Muzzafarnagar, returned to Odisha on Monday. Thirteen coaches of the train had derailed at Khatauli near Muzzafarnagar in Uttar Pradesh last Saturday.

The injured have been identified as Madhu Mandal, Amiya Das, Debendra Das, Jatri Das, Mubarak Ali and Sabita Mallick. Out of the five injured, Madhu Mandal and Sabita Mallick have sustained severe injuries and arrangements have been made for their further treatment in Bhubaneswar. They were brought back by a team led by the Transport Minister Nrusingha Sahu.

A team of BJD workers had rushed along with a few medical staff to Muzzafarnagar, a day after the mishap to enquire about the Odia passengers being treated in the Muzzafarnagar Medical College.
