Nor’wester Damage: Nandankanan closed for two days

Bhubaneswar: Nor’wester rains powered by gutsy winds, caused widespread damage in parts of Bhubanewar this afternoon. Patia area in the city was badly hit, as several trees and electric poles were uprooted.

The Nandankanan Zoo suffered extensive damages in the whirlwind and will remain closed for two days – June 2 and 3, informed Deputy Director Jayant Kumar Dash.

Several trees have been uprooted inside the Zoo, while the 33 KV electric line has been damaged too. The ticket system has collapsed completely. The Zoo authorities are assessing the damage caused by the storm.
