NIRF Rankings 2018: KIIT, 3 other institutions of Odisha make it to top 100

Bhubaneswar: According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings of 2018, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and other three institutions of Odisha have made it to the list of top 100 higher educational institutions in the country.

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University ranked at 65th position in the overall ranking of NIRF while the Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar was ranked at 51st position for higher educational institutions which was released by Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar in New Delhi today.

Likewise, the Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University in Bhubaneswar was placed at 38th position in the overall category and National Institute of Technology- Rourkela at 42nd position.

The NIRF rankings were released under nine categories – overall, universities, engineering, colleges, management, pharmacy, medical, architecture, and law this year.

KIIT University emerged as top management institute in Odisha with 30th rank in country followed by Xavier University at 36.

Similarly, in the medical college category too KIIT grabbed the 20th position in the NIRF ranking while SOA University got the 19th place.

NIT-Rourkela and IIT-Bhubaneswar occupied place in the Top 20 engineering colleges in the country. They were placed in the 15th and 18th rank respectively.

On the other hand, KIIT University was named the top private engineering institute in Odisha with 51st rank in the country followed by C. V. Raman College of Engineering at 89th place.

Bengaluru’s Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has topped the overall category list, followed by Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay at second and third rank respectively.

The ministry prepares the list on the basis of teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception.

The India Rankings 2018 were done under the NIRF that considered 3,954 institutes across nine parameters. Launched in 2015, NIRF is a methodology adopted by the HRD Ministry to rank all institutions of higher education in India.
