Niranjan Patnaik at airportBhubaneswar: With former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Niranjan Patnaik’s leaving for New Delhi on Thursday, political circles here are abuzz with talk of a change in Odisha PCC leadership.

Though Patnaik claimed that his visit to the national capital was ‘personal’, speculation is rife that Patnaik is likely to meet Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi over the change of party’s leadership in Odisha.

“I am going to Delhi on personal work. Rahul Gandhi has already taken a decision over the issue. We still do not have any clue over the issue. We will accept his decision.”

When asked about his possible appointment as the new Congress boss in Odisha, Patnaik, who is considered to be the top contender for the post, said, “I do not have any information in this regard, but the long wait should end soon.”

A majority of Odisha Congress leaders who met Rahul Gandhi earlier this month are believed to have demanded a change in PCC leadership.
