Balasore: The district police on Monday arrested the accused who had raped a minor girl on Friday in Hatasahi village under Baunshabania panchayat under Nilagiri Police Station.
A special team of Nilagiri Police arrested accused Nityachandan Jena from Bhadrak. Cops are interrogating him to extract more information from him about the matter.
Meanwhile, the minor victim recorded her statement under Section 164 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC).
Officials of the District Child Protection Committee visited the four-year-old rape victim earlier today and took her to hospital for medical examination.
Notably, Jena (24), who lives next door to the victim, lured her on the pretext of giving a chocolate on Friday. Later, he raped her by taking her into a dark room in his house.
The minor girl’s family members came to know about the incident when she narrated her ordeal before them after returning home, following which they had filed a police complaint.
Nityachandan was absconding after raping the minor girl.
