Jajpur: Last night Police rescued a new-born boy from Naparda village under Panikoili police limits who had gone missing minutes after his birth at Jajpur Road Community Health Centre (CHC) on December 5. It was being suspected that his mother had sold him out.

After an investigation of 11 days Jajpur Road Police got a tip-off on the whereabouts of the baby on Saturday. A police team led by IIC Chinmayee Sahoo raided a house in Naparda village and rescued the baby.

The hospital authorities had lodged a complaint at Jajpur Road Police Station after the new-born went missing from the CHC on the day of the incident without any notice. After a preliminary investigation it came to notice that the mother had got admission in the CHC under a fake identity due to her unwed status.

The baby was admitted to the Jajpur Road CHC for health check-up following his rescue.

Meanwhile, officials of district Child Welfare Committee (CWC) have reached the hospital and taken the child into their custody.

No arrests have been made in the incident so far.
