NEET-2018 Exam: Fake examinee arrested in Odisha

Rourkela: Uditnagar Police in the Steel City arrested a fake National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) examinee here on Sunday.

The arrested person has been identified as a Ramesh Kumar of Dunguri village in Rajasthan.

“On being informed, we went to the DAV Public School, one of the NEET exam centres, and nabbed a boy who identified himself as Ramesh Kumar, a native of Dunguri village in Rajasthan,” said Dibyakanti Lakra, IIC, Uditnagar Police Station.

“The school authorities, while collecting signatures from the examinees, smelled something fishy after noticing Ramesh’s behaviour and caught hold of him. When, they asked him about the matter he revealed everything before them. Later, the school authorities informed us,” added Lakra.

While the accused has been forwarded to the court, the cops, suspecting a big racket behind the incident, have started an investigation into the matter.

Notably, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the examination at 2255 centres in 136 cities across the country yesterday. More than 13 lakh students including around 40,000 students appeared the entrance test.
