New Delhi: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday urged Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to run the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express via Sambalpur.
During his meeting with Goyal, Patnaik sought introduction of new passenger/ express train services including extension of Howrah Jan Satabdi Express to Nayagarh town.
Besides, the Odisha CM reiterated his demand for a new express train named after Odisha’s legendary freedom fighter Buxi Jagabandhu. He requested the Railway Minister to run the train to Mumbai from Khurda via Sambalpur.
The other demands which Naveen placed before Piyush Goyal included early commencement of the work on Jeypore-Nabarangpur and Jeypore-Malkangiri lines and sanctioning of new railway line between Puri and Konark.
The Odisha CM also asked the Railway Minister to re-commission railway stations at Parlakhemundi and Kashinagar and upgrade Gunupur station on Naupada-Gunpur line.
Naveen Patnaik sought to expedite the ongoing railway projects in the state.
