Naveen, Dharmendra greet people on Diwali

Naveen, DharmendraBhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan have extended their greetings to the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Diwali on Thursday.

“Warm wishes on auspicious occasion of Diwali & Kali Puja. May the festival of lights bring happiness, peace & prosperity to all #HappyDiwali”, Patnaik wrote in Twitter.

“अंधकार पर प्रकाश के विजय का पर्व दीपावली के अवसर पर आप सबको हार्दिक शुभकामनाएँ । Happy Diwali to everyone”, Pradhan wrote in his Twitter handle.

Diwali, the festival of lights, is being celebrated across the state today. Thousands of devotees thronged  Jagannath temple in Puri to offer prayer to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra on the occasion.

In the capital city, people in large numbers were seen thronging to shops to buy candles, lamps, crackers and gifts for their near and dear ones last evening.

Authorities have urged the people to celebrate Diwali in a safe and pollution-free manner. Odisha Police have beefed up security at major cities and towns including Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Bhadrak, and Balasore to ensure a hassle-free celebration of Diwali and Kali Puja in the state.

Kali puja will also be celebrated today in various parts of the state.
