Nagpur Test: India make 312/2 at stumps on Day 2

Nagpur: Riding on excellent top order batting performance, India reached a commanding position and is looking for a straight win against Sri Lanka in the second Cricket Test here.

The home team scored 312 runs losing only 2 wickets in their first innings at stumps on the second day of the match on Saturday.

Cheteshwar Pujara on 121 and Skipper Virat Kohli at 54 were at the crease, while opener Murali Vijay got out at 128.

This was Vijay’s 10th, and Pujara’s 14th Test century. They shared five century stands in their last seven Tests. Both the batsmen also entered the select group of 5 pairs who have scored four successive centuries in Tests.

India now lead by 107 runs with 8 wickets remaining. The visitors were bundled out for 205 in their first innings.

The first Test at Kolkata had ended in a draw.
