Niali: Adding to the unending episode of sheep deaths in Niali block of Cuttack district two more sheep fell prey to mysterious animal attack in Debarahuda village under Nuagaon panchayat last night.
The sheep were spotted lying in a pool of blood at the cattle shed of a local who found them during an inspection this morning. The modus operandi of the predator remained the same with stomachs of the sheep torn and livers gouged out of them. Pugmarks and deep nail indentations were also found in and around the shed.
Forest officials reached the village along with the Veterinary team and examined the sheep carcasses.
With the fresh deaths of today the total number of sheep killed by mysterous animal in the block has jumped to 47 after it again surfaced in November this year.
