Bhubaneswar: With the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting early touch of South-West Monsoon to the Kerala coast this year, the regional meteorological centre here has expected its onset in Odisha early too.
As per a source in Bhubaneswar IMD centre, considering that the monsoon this year is expected to set over Kerala two to three days earlier than its regular occurrence on June 1, Odisha could also witness an early rain.
However, a bulletin issued by the regional centre yesterday avoided predicting the exact date of the monsoon arrival in Odisha and said it could only be predicted after analysing the direction of the wind and the prevailing weather condition in the state.
Notably, in normal conditions South-West Monsoon takes around 10 days to reach Odisha after hitting the Kerala coast.
