Puri: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik to extend his support to the “Swachhata Hi seva” campaign (cleanliness drive) ahead of Gandhi Jayanti.
Introducing the subject of his letter as something which was very close to Mahatma Gandhi’s heart, Modi said Bapu believed strongly that Swachhata is for each of us to practice.
“I personally invite you to lend your support to the Swachhata Hi Seva movement and dedicate some time for the cause of a Swachh Bharat. Your Participation will further inspire others to be a part of the movement. You can share your experience with me on the Narendra Modi Mobile app,” Modi wrote in his letter dated on Sept 15, 2017.
“Let us ensure that the coming days are about living the Mantra of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva,’ the Prime Minister ured the renowned sand artist.

Pattnaik has recently built two toilets for fishermen at Penthakata in Puri beach from his award money to persuade them to stop open defecation.

The Prime Minister has written personalised letters to iconic celebrities, including inter-faith leaders, industrialists, sportspersons film stars, and other noted personalities to extend their support Swachhata Hi Seva.
“Swachhata Hi Seva’ is a cleanliness drive launched by the Centre under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
