MLA Prabhat Biswal Granted Bail in Seashore Chit Fund Scam

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Tuesday granted regular bail to BJD MLA from Choudwar-Cuttack, Prabhat Biswal in the multi-crore Seashore chit fund scam case.

The court directed him to furnish two sureties of Rs 5 lakh each. Earlier on April 24, he was granted two months interim bail, the conditions of which will further continue.

Prabhat’s counsel, Anup Senapati in his final arguments before the court, told that his health condition had deteriorated due to a cyst in the spinal cord and stomach ailment and this necessitated his shifting from SCB Medical to any of the AIIMS hospital. He also submitted a medical report that stated that he also suffered from tuberculosis.

The MLA expressed his gratitude to BJD president and CM Naveen Patnaik his support.

Notably, Prabhat was admitted to Capital Hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital after his condition deteriorated on September 25.

Prabhat was under Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) scanner after a deal between his wife Laxmi Bilasini Biswal and Seashore Group CMD Prashant Dash over a piece of land measuring in Jajpur district. Later, he was arrested on September 19, last year from his Cuttack residence.
