Balasore: A group of miscreants looted unspecified amount of cash from a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM kiosk after uprooting it in Bahanaga Bazar under Soro Tehsil in the district last night.
While the exact amount of cash looted from the machine is yet to be assessed by the bank authorities, the kiosk which had been installed near the Hospital Road in the market a few months ago was found completely damaged in the burglary bid.
After reaching the spot and conducting the preliminary investigation, Soro Police suspected involvement of at least 5-6 robbers in the incident. The looters might have failed to transport the kiosk by a vehicle and failed in the attempt, they dumped it.
The same ATM which operated sans a security guard had suffered a similar loot attempt on December 25, 2017. The kiosk had been replaced by the bank at that time, said locals.
An investigation is underway in the incident.
