Miscreants loot Rs 45 lakh at gunpoint from bank in Odisha’s Rourkela

Rourkela: As many as seven miscreants wearing helmet and mask barged into the Rourkela branch of the Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) in Sundergarh district and decamped with Rs 45 lakh at gunpoint this morning.

As per the eyewitnesses, miscreants entered the bank after it opened at 10 AM and looted the cash from the chamber of the cashier and strongroom by attacking and threatening employees of the bank.

After getting information about the loot, Rourkela Superintendent of Police and DIG rushed to the spot and launched a probe into the bank robbery.

Police have sealed all entry points into city to trace the looters who are suspected to be from the neighbouring Jharkhand.

The incident has raised question mark over the safety of banks as the miscreants have robbed the bank on broad daylight.
