Soro: A minor girl was brutally outraged of her modesty in Kochia Koili village under Soro police limits in Balasore district last night. Police have arrested the accused.
The accused has been identified as Debabrat Upadhyay.
The victim, a Class 10 girl was on her way to perform evening puja at ‘Tulasi Chaura’ near her home when the accused struck. After overpowering and dragging the girl to a secluded place the accused tried to molest her. As the girl protested the accused thrashed her brutally and fled the spot.
After the girl reported the matter to her family members and they lodged a complaint at Soro Police Station a team led by SDPO Prabhat Chandra Pal nabbed the accused this morning.
Police have conducted medical examination of both the accused and the victim and an investigation is underway in the case.
