Minor girl killed, 4 critical in explosion at cracker unit in Odisha

Puri: A six-year-old girl was killed and four others were critically injured when an explosion took place at an illegal cracker manufacturing unit at Bilipada village under Pipili block in Puri district on Wednesday.
The injured were undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital and their condition was said to be very critical, when the news was filed.
According to reports, two brothers Nalu Bhoi and Bachhu Bhoi were working in their cracker manufacturing unit which they were allegedly running without license for long. All of a sudden an explosion took place in the cracker unit at around 10 AM leaving them critically injured, a villager said.
The explosion was so severe that it had its impact on Bhoi brother’s neighbour Bulu Bhoi’s house and killed his minor daughter.
Two locals of the neibouring Jagannathpur village, who had been to the cracker unit to buy cracker for Diwali, were also injured.
The incident has raised question over police inaction as many cracker manufacturing units have been running illegally in the area, alleged the villagers.
Police reached the spot to find out the reason behind the explosion.
