Angul: A 17-year-old girl committed suicide at Sankhapur village under Bantala tehsil of the district this morning.
The minor girl who has been identified as Pranati Sahu took the extreme step by consuming poison. However, reason behind her suicide is yet to be known.
Pranati’s family members, after knowing that she had taken poison, rushed her tot the Balanta hospital and later shifted her to the district headquarters hospital after her condition worsened. However, doctors declared the minor dead while treating her.
The body has been kept in the hospital for postmortem.
Local police have initiated a probe into the incident.
