Minor Gangrape , KoraputKoraput: Vehicular movement between Koraput to Vizag remains completely paralysed for the second day running as the local people continue to lay seige on NH 26 near Kunduli village under Potangi police limits in the district, protesting against the gang rape of a minor girl allegedly by four men of central security forces on Tuesday.

People also staged dharna in various places in the district today to press their demand for the immediate arrest of the accused.

The minor girl has alleged that four jawans engaged in anti-Maoist operations in the district gang raped her while she was returning from the Kunduli Haat (market) yesterday. Currently, she is undergoing treatment at Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital (SLNMCH) at Koraput. Her condition is reportedly stable.

“Such heinous crimes are being committed by men in uniform in our area on a regular basis. We are helpless. Government should intervene in this matter and take stringent action against the culprits,” said a villager.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced free treatment to the gang rape survivor. Terming it as ‘inhuman’, he directed the DGP to nab the accused as soon as possible.
