Milk trader shot dead in Gajapati, 1 hurt

Paralakhemundi: Throwing an open challenge to police, a group of bike-borne miscreants shot one person dead and left another critical in K. Sitapur village under Kashinagara police limits in Gajapati district last night.

The deceased has been identified as Radhakrushna Kalinga of K. Sitapur village. The critically injured is Anand Rao.

Kalinga, who happens to be a milk trader was on a visit to Rao’s shop located in the village to collect payment when the attack took place. Assailants came on a bike and opened fire at both the victims who were busy in talks in front of the shop, and fled away.

The victim duo sustained critical injury in the firing and were rushed to the Paralakhemundi DHH by some locals immediately. The hospital authority referred Kalinga to MKCG Medical in Berhampur later in the night due to deteriorating condition but he died before shifting.

While the Kashinagara Police have reached the hospital and started investigation into the incident, the attack has left people in K. Sitapur village in a state of panic.
