Mercury crosses 40 degrees Celsius mark in Odisha, too early this summer

Bhubaneswar: Odisha recorded 40 degrees Celsius temperature, the highest mark this year so far, on Wednesday.

According to the Regional Meteorological Department’s report, Titlagarh witnessed the highest temperature with mercury reaching 40.5 degrees Celsius.

Sambalpur with 40.3 degrees Celsius turned out to the second hottest city in the state today.

Nine other places of the state touched the 39 mark today. They are Bhubaneswar (39.4), Angul (39.7), Baripada (39.4), Jharsuguda (39.2), Hirakud (39.1), Talcher (39.9), Balangir (39.3), Malkangiri (39.6) and Sonepur (39.0)

With the temperature soring high day by day, the normal life in the state has been affected massively across the state.

Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar MeT office, in view of rising in temperature across Odisha, has issued sunstroke alert for the coastal parts of state.
