MCI Corruption Case: CBI arrests ex-Judge of Orissa HC I.M. Quddusi New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested former judge of Orissa High Court I.M.Quddusi in the MCI corruption case here on Thursday.

The retired acting chief justice of Orissa High Court was rounded up by the central investigating agency from his New Delhi house.

Four private persons – B.P. Yadav, Palash Yadav, Bishwanath Agarwala and Ram Dev Saraswat – have also been arrested in the MCI graft case by the CBI.

According to sources in the CBI, they will be produced before the Designated Court in Delhi later in the day.

The central investigating agency had yesterday registered an FIR under Section 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and section 120-B of the IPC against I.M. Quddusi and seven others, namely Bhawana Pandey, B.P. Yadav, Palash Yadav, Sudhir Giri, Biswanath Agrawala and other unknown public servants and private servants.

The CBI sleuths had raided nine places including Delhi, Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar and Lucknow belonging to the accused persons and others and recovered Rs. 91.90 lakh during the raids.

According to a CBI press release, two private persons were managing the affairs of a private Education Trust at Lucknow which runs the Institute of Medical Science, Sarai Shahzadi, Banthara, Kanpur Road, Lucknow, (UP). It has been also alleged that the aforesaid college is among 46 colleges which were barred by the Government from admitting medical students in the next one or two years because of substandard facilities and non-fulfillment of the required criteria.

A private person got in touch with the retire Justice of the High Court of Odisha and a private person resident of New Delhi, through another private person, entered into a criminal conspiracy for getting the matter settled, added the press note.

In furtherance of the said conspiracy, a private person was caught when he was coming out after allegedly taking Rs. 1 crore from a hawala operator based at Chandni Chowk, Delhi.
