Malkangiri: With no respite from red terror in the district following PLGA week observation by ultras, Maoists thrashed three villagers including an Ex-Sarpanch in Panasput village under Chitrakonda cut-off area in a Kangaroo Court last night.
The Sarpanch has been identified as Arjun Hantal.
A group of armed members of outlawed CPI (Maoist) organization barged into Arjun’s house late in the night and dragged him out branding as police informer. Later on they picked up two aides of Arjun from their respective homes in the village and produced all three at a Kangaroo Court held by them in a nearby forest.
Accusing the trio of passing on information to police on the movement of Maoists in the area, the red rebels thrashed them brutally in full public view. Later on they released the Ex-Sarpanch along with the aides on notes of warning to not indulge in similar activity in future.
The incident has left people in a state of panic in the area.
Notably, Maoists had also killed a local namely Sitaram Khila by slitting his throat suspecting him to be a police informer in the Bidiguda village in Ralegada panchayat on Saturday night on suspicion of being a police informer.
